This nationally recognised skill set consists of two units of competency SITXFSA001 Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA002 Participate in safe food handling practices.

This course will equip you with the critical knowledge and skills needed for hygienic practices and safe food handling during the storage, preparation, display, service and disposal of food.
This course is for food handling personnel or food safety supervisors who are already currently working in tourism, hospitality and catering organisations and who have access to permanent or temporary kitchen premises or smaller food preparation areas. This course is designed to allow you to study at your own pace being delivered fully online via our user friendly platform however please note you will be required to have access to a fully operational kitchen and a suitably experienced or qualified Supervisor/Colleague willing to sign 'Third Party Observations' on your behalf. You will learn many valuable skills including:
Learn to follow hygiene procedures, identify food hazards and participate in safe food handling practices
Understand airborne and infectious diseases and hygience practices
Learn about HACCP, safe food handling, prevention and control of pests and adhering to internal food safety protocols
Meets the national requirements for businesses to have a Food Safety Supervisor in their venue or business at all times

Assessments include: Knowledge-based questions, role-play(s), third-party report(s) and audio/video submission(s).

The skill set can take up to 18 hours (total time) to complete. You will however be learning at your own pace which means you are able to fit in your study around your other work, family and social commitments.
This skill set covers two units: SITXFSA001 - Use hygienic practices for food safety and SITXFSA002 - Participate in safe food handling practices
You will have access to the course and learning content for 3 months. If you don't complete your course and submit your assessments in that time, you will need to enrol again.

Completing this course is straightforward and fun. All you will require is a computer or tablet with internet access, a current browser (such as Chrome) and or a mobile phone with video recording and playback capability. You will also need access to a fully operational commercial kitchen and a suitably experienced of qualified supervisor or colleague willing to sign your 'Third Party Observations'.
